Overview

This app idea originated from a project I worked on during my studies—a platform to simplify social media content planning and scheduling. Inspired by my experience as a social media manager, I aimed to address challenges like creating content with non-copyrighted sounds and aligning with viral trends.

The app helps users create standout, viral content effortlessly. It offers trending sound suggestions, customizable templates, and AI-powered features like video-to-sound syncing, automatic trimming, and generating captions, subtitles, and hashtags—maximizing reach and engagement.

Problem

Content creators face several challenges that make it harder to produce engaging, professional-quality work efficiently:

  • Challenges for Beginners

Novice creators struggle with producing high-quality content due to limited experience in production or editing.

  • Trend-Driven Content Creation

Creating trendy content requires extensive research on viral sounds and staying updated on fast-changing trends, which can be overwhelming and time-consuming.

  • Syncing Video to Sound

Achieving perfect video-to-sound sync, especially to the beat, is difficult without specialized tools, requiring manual edits that are often imprecise.

  • Using Multiple Apps

Content creation often involves juggling multiple apps for editing, captions, effects, and music, making the process inefficient and frustrating.

Competitor analysis

During market research, I examined three key apps that align with the needs of my users. These apps: CapCut, InShot, and Mangisto– offer video editing tools and provide valuable insights into the requirements of my target audience, helping me understand the various solutions I can offer.

User Research

The goal of my research was to understand diverse user needs and challenges, ensuring the app caters to both professionals and beginners. To achieve this, I interviewed the following types of potential users:

  • Professional video editors
  • Business owners creating social media content
  • Novice video editors

The professional editors highlighted technical requirements for high-quality editing, while the business owner and novice emphasized simplicity and productivity. Common goals included increasing content visibility and generating revenue on social media.

From these insights, I developed two personas representing the app’s primary audiences, reflecting their needs, challenges, and goals.

User Research

User research revealed a strong need for an app that simplifies content creation while boosting social media visibility and supporting business growth. Based on user feedback, the app should focus on tools that enhance content quality and optimize engagement, with features such as:

  • Faster Editing

AI tools can automate tasks like syncing video with sound and suggesting trends, saving time and letting creators focus on production and audience engagement.

  • User-Friendly Design

An intuitive interface suitable for all skill levels, offering simplicity for beginners and advanced features for professionals.

  • Automatic Sound Syncing

Syncing with trending sounds from social media can improve precision and enhance content impact.

  • Personalized Optimization

AI-driven suggestions for trending sounds, hashtags, and edits can help users create engaging, trend-aligned content that maximizes reach.

The app’s business model separates free features from premium AI-powered tools, allowing users to access core features without charge while offering advanced editing capabilities, such as AI-assisted video-to-sound syncing and personalized content optimization, through the Pro version. This tiered approach ensures accessibility for all users while providing professionals with powerful tools to elevate their content.

The First Stage: Early App Wireframes​

The wireframes presented here represent the early design phase, focusing on the app’s structure and functionality. They were created based on research insights to streamline the content creation process and enhance the user experience.

After completing my research and analyzing the insights, I began working on new wireframes that reflected what I had learned.

Design

In designing the app, I focused on creating an intuitive experience accessible to all users, including those without editing experience. The design aligns with a business model that separates free features from premium, AI-powered tools.

Orange was chosen as the primary action color to highlight key actions and boost engagement, while blue differentiates AI-powered Pro features, making advanced tools easy to identify and use.

Conclusion

This project was a valuable learning experience, highlighting the importance of aligning design and functionality with a clear business model. Understanding how the app’s goals separating free features from premium AI tools shape its structure and user experience was a key takeaway.

As a social media manager, I saw how this tool could solve real challenges, like saving time and creating trend-aligned content. It’s a product I’d use myself, underscoring its potential for creators like me.

This experience reinforced the value of thoughtful design and purposeful functionality in building user-centered solutions- an approach I’ll bring to future projects.
